In an overpopulated and oversaturated working world, two men on the Gower Peninsula have taken up the peculiar occupation of Mud Turning.
Birthed from the minds of Alex McPake & Stephen Shelmerdine, this improvised mockumentary is the third instalment of their ’12 Hour Shorts’ film series . Much like its predecessors, Mud Turners began its life as a conversation on a patio and within 12 hours, was written, shot, scored and edited.
Synopsis: “Man witnesses evaporation and becomes inspired”.
Put together with a collection of throwaway footage that I felt compelled to record one morning, ‘Inspiration’ was birthed from my ever meta brains desire to be, well, meta.
In line with most other projects I’ve put together, this was formed rather by accident, but hopefully regardless of that, you’re still able to find something in it. What I hear you ask? I’m not really sure – but I should probably say Inspiration. Yeah, let’s go with that.
I had such a fantastic day filming and chatting with the very talented Richard Meyrick Guitars about his craft and guitar making passions for this project. Sifting through endless 4K 60fps footage of Richards process made the edit a joy to put together too.

‘A Day in the Life of a Sales Consultant’ is the first in a series of 8 recruitment style videos I created for furniture giant Oak Furnitureland, during my time as a Director / Editor at Cardiff based video production agency Wordley Creative.
Armed with 2 Canon C300s, I had a lot fun directing over the course of a full day in an enormous Swindon store. It’s always fun working with real staff members, and it’s equally fun working in a smaller creative team where you have to shoot pragmatically, in a somewhat guerrilla style manner, because the store is open as usual.
It’s shoots like these I have the most fun editing too – you’re usually able to find the best and loveliest shots (that always seem to make the final edit) within the outtakes.
Working with FreePrints on this short form social media campaign was a really enjoyable experience. This ended up being a really wholesome shoot – interviewing a series of people taking immense joy in revisiting some of the photos that capture their most favourite memories.
